The SMCP was formed in 2002 and since then has built a reputation as a forward thinking and innovative charity that serves he needs of the local community. To achieve these aims the SMCP has used strategic development linked to the idea of “progressive universalism” within the community, which is to improve the lives of those in the worst position to also make an impact on the quality of life for all. In 2003 & 2007 the SMCP and other partners worked to produce a Community Needs Assessment to guide all stakeholders on the needs of the area. It is also useful when trying to prove to funders that the community has specific needs. Combined with the more frequent assessments carried out during community projects and the feedback from the Sale Moor Youth Bank committee and young people attending sessions. The SMCP can truly say that it works to improve the lives of Sale Moor residents and particularly when dealing with the needs of young people. The SMCP encourages a “do-it-yourself” ethic among local residents and young people and this also helps to encourage volunteers to join the group. We are consistently looking to attract new people into the charity and back volunteers to launch their own project ideas. If you would like to get involved with any of the project we manage or start one of your own but need a little help then contact us. There are a number of documents available for you to download that help us to form the SMCP group practice. |
