Jamaica Day Community Festival Set to Spice up Trafford & Manchester
Positive Jamaican vibrations create a song and dance about opportunities, access and achievements within our local communities on August 21st in Longford Park and Stadium, Trafford.

At the heart of the festival is a desire to strengthen cultural and intergenerational bonds, and promote personal and community development to contribute to safe, happy and prosperous communities across Greater Manchester.

There'll be a plethora of activities that are commonly associated with the Caribbean including school ground dandy shandy, dominoes, netball and athletics. And authentic Jamaican food will be available from the local community and M&M Caribbean Spice.

Of course there will be reggae in the park, and friends and families will be able to dance in and out of a Careers Fair, sporting competitions, talks and discussion on a range of topical issues, a fun fair and a good old-fashioned concert to polish things off.

The Jamaica Day Community Festival is for everyone, regardless of heritage, background or race; it’s a gift from the black community to Greater Manchester.

Thanks to the Greater Manchester High Sheriff’s Trust, Salford University Trafford Housing Trust and Zolfo Cooper for supporting the vision.

• Take part in an arts activity, anything from dance to creative writing to beat boxing

• Go to an arts event of your choice

• Find your arts hero or heroine, research their story, and discover how they got to where they are today

• Share your skills by helping to run a workshop or by giving a demonstration to others

We look forward to hearing from you!

Gain amazing, volunteering work experience with award winning charity.
Make a massive difference in your local community by designing and implementing a sustainable project.
Action for Sustainable Living in partnership with Trafford Council support individuals and their communities to make a difference. We believe that small steps lead to big changes.

We are looking to recruit Voluntary Local Project Managers who are residents in Trafford.

The role is a challenging yet rewarding one; you will develop new skills, meet new people and really feel like you are making a difference. If you are an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual able to offer at least eight hours per week to support AfSL's activities, why not nominate yourself for this unique opportunity?

'To me, the 8 hours per week that I contribute to Action for Sustainable Living are more meaningful than a full-time job in any non-sustainable organisation'.
